What we collect
When you submit the form, we collect your name, email address, optional role, optional affiliation, your optional consent to receive project updates, and technical metadata needed to operate the service, including confirmation tokens, request timing, hashed IP-based anti-abuse data, and delivery or retry metadata for transactional email.
Why we use it
We use this data to record support for the Open Letter, send and verify the confirmation email, publish confirmed signatories, maintain the integrity of the published list, protect the service against abuse, and if you opt in and confirm, send occasional project updates to the same email address.
Lawful basis
The intended lawful basis for the signatory list is legitimate interests: running the signatory list for the Oxford Oath project, confirming that signatories are real, and protecting the list against spam, spoofing, and operational abuse. Any project-update emails should rely on the consent you actively choose in the form and confirm through the email flow.
What becomes public
If you confirm your signature, the public signatories page shows your name, your affiliation if supplied, your email domain, and the confirmation timestamp. The local part of your email address is not published.
Email confirmation
We send a confirmation email to complete your sign-up. Unconfirmed submissions are not published on the public signatories page.
Retention
We keep sign-up records for as long as they are needed to operate and maintain the signatory list, handle withdrawals or corrections, and preserve a reliable record of confirmed support. Anti-abuse and delivery metadata may also be retained while needed for security and operational integrity.
Your choices
You can contact us to ask for correction or withdrawal of your published signature. If you contact us from a different email address, we may need further verification before making changes.
Service providers
This site is intended to run on Cloudflare Pages and D1, with Resend used for transactional confirmation email delivery.
